A:  I think his ongoing legacy will be somebody who 
had an early and prescient understanding of the 
nature of A) the mass media, the electronic media, 
and B) what the likely effect of those media would 
be on society and habits of thought and styles of 
feeling. I mean that’s his notion, I believe his phrase 
is that “we make our tools and then our tools 
shape us.” And so first we make the tool of print 
and movable type and we get used to that way of 
seeing and arranging our ideas and our thought. 
Then this gives way, 400 years later, to the 
electronic means of communication and he uses 
media almost as a way of transporting information 
and ideas and feelings. I mean, he’s talking about it
